Why Does My Mouse Pointer Keep Jumping Away From Where I Point It?

I can start to move my pointer around and start to click on something and it suddenly jumps to somewhere else.
What is causing this and what can I do to correct this?

if its a wireless, try new batteries.

If not, then I think its time to retire the mouse. Mine used to do that to, then I just gave up and got a new one. It really pissed me off to, I could never click on anything.

Good luck

If you have an optical mouse, try blowing on the laser a little, maybe there’s some dust or a hair stuck there. I’ve had to do that several times with my optical cordless mouse. If it isn’t optical, then I’ve no idea. If there’s nothing near the laser, then it could just be time for a new mouse,.. sometimes these things get old and wear out.

You need to unscrew that piece that holds the rolling ball in on the bottom and take the end of a pen or pencil and clean the built up lint off the little metal bars inside the mouse, like the little tracts the ball rolls against.

If your mouse has a ball on the bottom you need to take the ball out by twisting the ring just around the outside of the ball remove it and take your fingernail and Scrape the dirt of the little black wheels inside the mouse.
