I'm an ebay powerseller 'ready' to open my own web store? Is it worth it?
I’ve become a silver powerseller and I’m a full time ebayer. I feel insecure about depending on ebay for my future because they don’t always offer much help and they can pretty much do what they like with your account from one minute to the next without even needing to offer an explanation because they act like the LAW.
Anyway I also feel like now I am more able to run an ecommerce site than before, and could shift there some of my my repeat customers earned through ebay (at first as I want to do this together with ebay in the beginning) but what happens with generating my own traffic, and the costs, and starting a learning curve all over from the beginning? I know its going to be alot of work and time. Is it worth it????
Hello. First thing on going with one step at a time.
I think you dont need to risk all from the start of your idea. Good would be to open a Blog (free) where you could place some of the products. You can use google analytics for checking the traffic so you will learn a bit more about the interest of the public on the site. You can add a domain name to that blog… so if success… just switch the site to a more powerful one but keep the domain name.
Remember that the advantage of ebay in this case is that it atracts the buyers… this is because they offer trust… and that is not an easy task.
Using 2 different "frontdoors" will give to your potential customers more chances to find your products.
