How High a Mw Should I Get for a Laser Pointer?

I want to get a laser pointer I could use for just my friends and me. I want to get a high power laser pointer but I don’t know how large to get it. Thanks.

Normal pointing, a <5mw will do the trick. If you want a COOL one that you can see on houses during the day and pop black balloons, get the one I have http://www.amazon.com/Green-Laser-Rubber-Finish-Powered/dp/B001ACYCE2 Just don’t point it at people of African descent or on freckles as the dark colored skin will absorb it all and it hurts!

These lasers are cheap and are usually less powerful than they are cracked up to be, but mine works great! It is a 50mw one, but that product has been measured around 18mw to 44mw.

Pros: Cheap $20
Powerful
Bright
Green (new for most people)
Small
Runs on AAA’s and keeps a charge
SEE the beam in the dark and up to the clouds at night!

Cons: Dangerous to the eyes
Shorter lifetime
Only online
Works worse in the cold

High power ones are extremely dangerous. You can ruin someones eye easily. Not just by a direct beam to someone’s eye, but also from a chance reflection off a shiny surface. A few mW is enough for a pointer.
