They got a ton of energy that they need to get out, at least in their first 4-5 years old. If they don’t get the exercise they crave they are apt to whine a bit but they got hearts of gold and make great family dogs.

they know when theyre breaking the rules so theyll always be sneaky about it and no fence or kennel can hold one thats determined to get out

I have a German Shorthaired Pointer. He’s adorable, but oh so naughty. He jumps off the couch JUST as he see’s that he’s been spotted. :P
He was abused by a little kid, so doesn’t like little kids, and adding to his shy personality, he can get edgy. But I love my Malone!

    Nice video …
Nice video representing the GSP breed. GSP’s are awesome, but beware if not given enough attention, they really will get the attention they need through being naughty :) Eat your shoes, your eyeglasses, your couch litterally :) Best companions!

    I´m helping walking …
I´m helping walking the dogs in an animal shelter here in Germany for a few weeks now. “My” dog is a Deutsch – Kurzhaar (GSP). The report is 100% right about engergy. This dog is a steam-canonball. He walks and walks and points at everything without ever getting tired. I´ve got him allways on a lash (we have to as dog walkers in this shelter). After 4 hours he´s still relentless pulling me forward.
This dog is a steam engine.
And he´s a grandpa with a grey snout.
    A high-energy grandpa.

    I lost my GSP and I …
I lost my GSP and I cried like a baby when I was burring him…that’s from a Marine that hasn’t cried in 20 years! Ive never seen my dad cry and he cried while I was burring him…he never once failed me through probably 500 hunts and thousands of hours playing…he was 100% perfect.

PS since then I had a baby girl and cried at her birth…whats happening to me? lol

  18. cchanderson says:

    Yeah that’s the …
Yeah that’s the great thing about them…people think you have to spend a lifetime training them…I had the pick of the litter..I brought a pheasant feather on a string…I picked the one that pointed at the feather..6 weeks!!!!

These are truly the all terrain breed ..there the only breed that can do everything…I mean everything…night hunting, day hunting, chase, retrieve…love water!!!

They are not the best at everything though, but they can proficiently perform everything.

    I have a GSP I …
I have a GSP I wasn’t sure about her at first my husband had always wanted one so I bought one for him for his birthday. I think she has became my little girl. I love her she is very high strung but, I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Very smart animal. She makes the best bed dog!

  25. cchanderson says:

    they are very loyal …
they are very loyal. While hunting quail with my GSP we kicked up about a 50lb male Midwestern coyote and he went toe to toe with it 15 ft in front of me for about 10 sec till I could get the shot. When I killed the yote he was retreating from my dog, it was apparent my GSP got the best of him.

Don’t get one for a guard dog though they seldom bark.

also don’t get one unless you hunt him… they live for hunting its just in their DNA.
